CragRats Brasserie is one of only five Yorkshire restaurants short-listed in what are hailed as ‘The Dining Oscars of The North’. The 21st Anniversary Hi-Life ‘Restaurant of the Year’ Gala Awards are a celebration of the North’s dining industry and are the largest restaurant awards to be voted for by members the public. Over 20,000 Hi-Life diners from across the North have voted in 17 hotly contested categories which for the first time include ‘Yorkshire Restaurant of the Year’ in recognition of the growing breadth and calibre of eateries across the region. The five restaurants shortlisted alongside CragRats Brasserie for the award are Room in Leeds city centre, The Millrace Organic Restaurant in Kirkstall, The Old Police Station in Chapel Allerton, and The Bull at Broughton. The Yorkshire Post’s Robert Cockroft is also shortlisted for Restaurant Critic of the Year. Winners of the event will be announced at a star-studded Gala Awards Dinner on 20th January 2006 at The Midland Hotel, Manchester. Hosted by Simon Rimmer, presenter of Granada TV’s ‘Grubs Up’ and Century FM’s Jude Vause, the event attracts major celebrities, top chefs, restaurateurs and members of the public with presenters including Noddy Holder, William Roache, Dave Spikey and John Thomson. David Heeley, Chairman of Hi-Life Diners Club said: “The calibre of restaurants across Yorkshire continues to rise and I’m proud to say that those on our shortlist represent some of the best dining experiences in the country.
